Ending on a High

A very BIG thank you to Jade for this award. I am so honoured to receive this award from you. You sure made my day!!

There are many others whom I have met while blogging that truly deserves this award. They are:

Yan from whom I have learnt a thing or two (or maybe even ten) just by reading her posts. She has shown me how the Lord has touched her life, and also how a true professional writes.

bp for sharing with me the beautiful life she is experiencing with her children in a foreign land. Just by reading her posts, I feel that I can truly connect with her, and as if we have been pals for years.

iml for her patience that seems to flow through to me from her blog. I wish I was more like her, able to handle my kids with no help.

eastcoastlife for her no-holds-barred, sometimes hilariously funny, and "educational" posts. ECL was one of the first to teach me a thing or two about blogging when I first started. She is what I would call my "sifu" of blogging.

tigerfish for sharing with us all her wonderful food posts and innovative recipes. I call her my "Nigella" of Blogspot.

mott for being her true self even when blogging. No pretences, no niceties just for the sake of it, for telling it like it is. Sometimes I wish I had the guts to post like her!!

And of course, the award goes to 2 blogs which have since closed: that of Judy (Grandmother Stories) and Kopi Soh (aka Firehorse), whose posts I really enjoyed reading AND for their care and concern for others through their actions. They have really shown God's Love to others in this blogging world.

Why am I giving so many awards? Because nothing could be better way than sharing the award with those so deserving of it and especialy after receiving it myself. It may come as a surprise to many of you but this is my last post. Why end? Just impulsive? Maybe! Many things have happened, many criticisms, many questions, and I feel that it is best that I stop.

To those who have asked: why the need to blog and make it public? yes, maybe you are right. Maybe all these should be kept private in a diary, just for my own eyes. To those who have read more than what I had written in my posts - my apologies, maybe it was a wrong choice of words. No offence was meant. No hard feelings. And to everyone else: If you were offended in any way by what I wrote, I apologise. Nothing was meant to hurt or poke at anyone - it was just my inability to choose a better word, to write it in a nicer way. Everything written was done "My way" .

And to share with you one of my favourite songs by Frank Sinatra, My Way:

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"No, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

His song pretty much sums up what I am feeling! After one and a half years here, I am saying good bye. Sad to leave. BUT will not be gone forever. I will still be visiting your blogs.

So dear blogger friends, Adious for now. Take care and God Bless!!

First things first... a big CONGRATS on the award, you deserve it!

And I must let you know how blessed I am by your friendship -- the sharing on your own blog, and when you take the time to come visit me on mine and always leaving me wise words, and words of encouragement.

Can this not be your last post, please? I will miss you and your writing so much! Yours is like a daily read for me, and you blog about so many different things, I've learned more than a thing or two coming here.

Most of all, I feel I have known you, too! And it will be really wonderful to keep on getting to know you!

So, do come back when you can, OK? Be here, always your faithful fan and friend! *extends me pinkie for BBF shake* *Hugs* for you, and you take very good care of yourself now, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

Hello SAHM,

First of all, congratulations on the award, your blog deserves it. =)

However, I'm shocked to find out that you are ending it... I know that you have reasons about it, but I believe that many will be blessed through your blog if you keep it going. Hey, I'm just starting to enjoy coming here, and you're closing? This is so sad...

I hope that you will change your mind. Or maybe you'd like to return with a new blog? Hear from you again, take care and God bless.

How can I be "Nigella" of Blogspot? I don't even watch her though I know she is famous. I think I am happy just being Nutella! :P

Thanks for your award. Have a nice weekend.

JO-N said...

Hey, I have not even warm up and suddenly you bring me to the end? I got to know you only very recently but I enjoyed reading your posts but I know that life is more than just blogging. If you have to make this decision, I'll support you. All the best to you and may you be happy always.

I am honoured, more than honoured. But, I could not find another suitable word right now.

I have enjoyed each of your blog post, just like what all others have. We sure look forward to read more. I am a "grown-up" mum who tries to find those good times that I have "lost" with my children. So, many SAHM like you have brought me tremendous joy and taught me to capture every moments of children's milestones of growth, and every single details of their lives. They just grow up too soon.

You would never know how much I have benefited from you young mothers, the stay-at-home-mum.

Thank you. I am so blessed to have "known" you!

Hi tigerfish
You may not have watched Nigella, but you are definitely mine!! Have a great weekend too!

hi Jo-N
I enjoy reading your posts too. maybe someday soon I will write again.

Hi Yan
You truly deserve the award. BTW - I am not a "young mum". I am a start a bit late old mum. I feel like a grandma when I bring my littlest one to school, I have the honour of being the oldest Mum of the class!!

In my traumatised state, I have forgotten to thank you for your kind words. Words that gives me tremendous motivation. Thank you. I know you will miss writing. It's an addiction. To destress and make your opnions, ideas and thoughts be seen in print and be heard.

stay-at-home mum said...

Hi iml
I hope I did not traumatise you!! you are right about the addiction, and it is definitely a way to destress!!

Congrats on the award!

Alamak! One by one you maciks close down your blogs.

Don't take readers too seriously lah. Even in real life, there are very sensitive people. they should be the ones not reading if they don't like what we write.

Don't call me sifu, k? Just an older macik. hahaha....

stay-at-home mum said...

Hi sifu ecl...oops I mean Older Machik

I dont like to be called machik leh! I like to think of myself as still young - more like a Kakak!!

Heard you loud and clear. So, i should get back and blog, ah?

Wat! Quitting??!?? (=.=) Was shocked to read this post, SAHM. Sob sob...It's a blogging world and each one of us have the freedom to express our views, experiences, etc. Though I like the song "my way" but "the end is not near" for you to face the final curtains =P. I'll be "right here waiting" patiently for your return, k. B "sending all my love" and hope to c you back in action!

Constance Chan said...

hey. it is a surprise to hear you are going to stop blogging. For any specific reasons, i respect your choice. After all we do need to feel comfortable with what we are doing. Don't worry about what people say. It's your choice, blogging should be fun to the blogger and informative and entertainment to readers. Those who have read and oppose to our views should just not read them. I like sharing recipes, handy tips, interests, and school exam blues in Little Red Dot. I shall visit you here still, who knows, you might post a little hi or general update about yourself.

Good luck. Will miss reading this blog.

Me again... come and share some blooms with you, and finally, I've got round to thanking you for so generously sharing this award with me... and doing my bit to pass it on to other blogs!

Hang in there for the kids' exams... they are smart kids, you've taught them well, and the exam week will fly by faster than you know it! =)

stay-at-home mum said...

Hi Constance & icook4fun
Thanks for popping by. I will visit your blogs, even if i am not writing.

hi bp
If i do write again, you are one of the main reasons. Thanks for being a BBFF!! Take care. Keeping fingers crossed for the exams.

bp said...

Me no stalker, hehe... just coming to say hi, and thanks for leaving me your comments and words of encouragement, when you must know I was bogged down and worried. Yay, will love to be reading your posts again!

Quick update... me gone for blood test, waiting for results. Meanwhile, things are normal. Thanks again for your concern always, my BBFF! *Hugs*

I'm sad to read that you are not blogging anymore. I agree with ECL.

I'm not sure what misunderstanding it was that caused you to stop but its not worth it.

You can destress with blogging, write about your kids exams, so we can learn from it etc. We love to read.

And to the others who don't or who misunderstand your postings and attack you, forget about them! Because there will always be those sorts of people around in the blogging world.

I hope you change your mind. Sob. Sob. But if you don't, I wish you well. Take care. I'll miss your blog.
