Every year, on the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year, our family will, instead of visiting relatives, do some "child friendly" activities with our children. For the past few years we have visited the various museums in Singapore (Art, History, Asian Civilisation Museum) and the zoo.
This year we opted for :
This is Singapore's largest flower festival, and it showcases over one million blooms of more than one thousand species.
We ventured out early, to get a head start, as well as to avoid the scorching afternoon sun. Here are some of the photos taken at the Flower Show:
Little D infront of the word "Chun" meaning spring, made entirely out of flowers
S,N and D in front of "mice eating rice'
Swans made completely out of blooms.
There were also other very popular "pavilions" at the flower show, namely the sunflower pavilion which featured hundreds of sunflowers, as well as one specially for Valentines Day, where blooms were arranged into heart shapes. However the queue to those were way too long, so we did not bother joining them just for a photo shot. Orchid lovers will also not be disappointed as there were so many varities featured and all were in full bloom!
Well, if you have the time and enjoy flowers, a visit to this flower will not leave you disappointed. It runs until 17 February and is located at the Imbiah Lookout, just beneath the giant Merlion on Sentosa Island.

I can tell Little D loves flowers. After we went for our 1st reunion this year, I asked her the next day what she liked about dinner. Her reply was: The flowers!!
I must admit that the flowers that they had were very tastefully displayed.
Just yesterday, I mentioned that I had to throw away the roses that had already withered. She refused to let me do it. She told me: "Mummy, those flowers are not dead! They are just looking at the floor."

Oooo... till 17th Feb only? I am going to miss it. A business trip planned for early March.
That's cute - flowers for dinner. Great D, yay!
Hang the roses upside down under the sun. That would make beautiful dried flowers!
Hi Yan
Guess to her the food was no big deal, but the flower decor appealed to her more.
Great idea. I used to dry my own flowers, but after a while, it just sort of did not appeal to me anymore to do it. Maybe I should now that I have a little one that appreciates it.
Can finally see S,N and D !
Hope I can make it in time to view the flowers :)
hey ling - I have been posting their photos previously, what?!
Hope you do make it to the show!
Gong Xi Fa Cai!! Xin Nian Kuai Le!!
May you have great wealth, good health and abundant joy in the Rat year!!
I have yet to visit the Flower Show. My friends who went commented that it was too crowded and the weather was hot.
nice but no one in the family is a flower person!
That's a lovely tradition to take the kids out, so it's not just visiting people only =)
Nice shot of your darlings!
I hope your roses make it... D does give you one really good reason to take up Yan's suggestion! D's got good taste!
Hey ecl
Try going early like at 9am. Its really nit that crowded at that hour and the best part is: Its not so hot at that time.
Oh Doc,
Maybe a visit would get them interested, dont you think?
