Yes, Singapore has won the bid to host the inaugural World Youth Olympics in 2010.
Signapore pipped Moscow to the honour of hosting the World Youth Olympics. Such wonderful news, as it shows that the IOC has the confidence in our ability to do the job well.
It is such an honour for a small little nation to be given this task!
Yippee!!! Hooray!

Hurray !!! My hubby and me were jumping for joy when the result was announced!! :)
Finally, the torch is coming this way.
As a result of this post, I beat my husband to be the first to read about this! Hot off SAHM's blog! =)
And how exciting this is for S'pore!
If I win the lotto I will be sure to visit Singapore in 2010. :) By the way, I have a tag for you at http://jennyandbelle.blogspot.com/2008/02/lets-play-dominoes.html
Oh ye...but does that mean more people, and things getting more expensive? :O
An award for you. Have a nice day.
Congratulations to Singapore.
I must be so ignorant. I have never heard of World Youth Olympics. :(
Remember I did post a comment here, it does not show up, hope it's not "comment deleted" :)
I was wondering how many of mums here would have their children in this World Youth Olympics :)
Happy for Singapore - a place I hold dear in my heart!

Hi Yan
No, I did not delete your comment. Did not see it.
Not sure how many Singaporeans will be taking part, but in the Sunday times they did feature a few that would be. I think there were 2 swimmers, amongst a few others.
Hi Judy
2010 will be the 1st time they are holding it. Its for those aged 14 to 18 years, an Olympics for the younger folks.
Hi Jenny & sweetiepie
I wish you both can come in 2010!!
Hi tigerfish
I guess thats the "price" you have to pay for the honpur of hosting it. But it should be a boost for our retail, hotel and f&b sector.
Hi bp
So, I was the one with the breaking news and not cnn??
Tks Hazel
iml and Ling
Yes, so glad for Singapore, isnt it? At last we will be where the action is. But like tigerfish said - more crowds and things will get more expensive too!
